Director's Statement
I was raised in harmony with all kinds of belief systems and diverse groups of ethnicities. I’ve been to countless temples, churches, synagogues, and mosques all over the world and can say with full certainty that I’ve felt the presence of a Higher Power in each location. Although wars have been fought in the name of religion, the best starting point to resolve this is a willingness to listen to differing viewpoints and work towards coexisting in harmony. This is why I want to travel the world and ask people about God, philosophy, science, and spirituality. The reason I want to make this documentary lies in the past, the present, but most importantly, the future. Since the dawn of humanity, our faiths have united us, resulting in rich cultures and communities, and divided us, resulting in countless wars and genocides. What can we learn from history so that it does not repeat itself? We are currently living in a pandemic that has changed life as we know it and will know it going forward. Many of us are afraid to go outside or interact with our communities in the ways we used to. We are all surrounded by some degree of fear. Politically and socially, we are more divided, alienated, and polarized than ever. But one thing we all have in common is that we are all experiencing the same unprecedented threats to our very existence, be it COVID-19, climate change, natural disasters, economic hardships, racial injustice, or healthcare inequity. That is why this is the best time to make this documentary. When all seems to be going awry externally, it’s time for us to look internally. I have hope for the future. I believe that when we listen to each other and educate ourselves on different viewpoints, we can learn tolerance and acceptance.
